PDF: [The Future of MySQL is Postgres](https://nextgres.com/res/20240419-The-Future-of-MySQL-is-Postgres.pdf) — The title of this slidedeck certainly caught my eye! It’s a slidedeck from a talk given at [Postgres Conference 2024](https://postgresconf.org/conferences/2024) last week. One of the speakers [explains all here](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40094160). They’re working on a Postgres extension to enable MySQL apps to run on Postgres without any code changes (so it’ll support the wire protocol, SQL dialect, etc.) An alpha release is expected this summer.

[eBook: Tuning Autovacuum for Best Postgres Performance](https://pganalyze.com/ebooks/tuning-postgres-autovacuum?utm_source=PostgresWeeklyPrimary04242024) — Learn about tuning settings for scheduling and performance, reducing autovacuum overhead during business hours, the xmin horizon and how it blocks vacuums, why to avoid anti-wraparound vacuums and how to reduce bloat by tuning dead tuple thresholds.

[The Architecture of PGXN v2](https://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/PGXN_v2/Architecture) — David Wheeler, and others, are working on a major update to the [PGXN](https://pgxn.org/) approach to providing extension distribution, discovery, and tooling for the Postgres ecosystem. This new wiki page outlines the current state of play and where things could head next.

They got 184 talk proposals but can only accept 38, so there's a lot of work to be done.

[Creating Multi-Tenant Queues](https://docs.hatchet.run/blog/multi-tenant-queues) — Spinning up a basic queue on Postgres is reasonably easy, but what about if you don’t want one user’s jobs hogging the limelight? Make things more fair with separate queues for each user.
